FROM LITTLE THINGS

Latrobe Regional Gallery, Opened by Julie Adams

June 3 - June 18,  2000

This exhibition “From Little Things Big Things Grow” is about life. The seed pod, symbolic of the life process, is used here to make references to reproduction, growth, maturity, aging, environmental impact – all aspects of life. The works themselves evolve like a life process – the artist never knowing how the work will end up – as a result of numerous layers of paint and layered imagery. In a world with emphasis on false perfection these pods seem to take on their own unique personality expressing the inherent beauty and individual character of their imperfection.

Neither still-life nor landscape, these works are about beauty, mystery and optimism.

JOHN LESLIE PRIZE FOR PAINTING INSPIRED BY LANDSCAPE FINALIST - Gippsland Art Gallery Sale

This was my first time at being selected into a big prize exhibition  but it’s always a thrill to be selected and have your work hanging alongside some of your much admired artist heroes. In this exhibition my paintings were hanging opposite Robert Juniper’s!
